Black & white photography has a certain appeal that not everyone may share, it may be old fashioned from today_qt_s Instagram and IMAX point of view, but for me it_qt_s still as relevant as 40 years ago when I discovered its aesthetics.
Back then most prominent photographers were black & white experts, be it landscape, portrait or fashion, I still think it automatically identifies a picture as a potential piece of art rather than just a photo. It invites a closer look to see if that_qt_s warranted.
The motif gets reduced to its substance, the moment disappears into a timeless eternity, the mood changes into reflection.
Instead of a quick overall recognition the shapes and textures have to be explored, hidden meaning found, it requires some work but the impression lasts longer.
Even a bad photo can transform into something powerful, but great pictures can suddenly be boring.
Here is my own very slow-growing collection of black & white images, hope you like some of them!
