I was always fascinated by photography and started out with developing arty black & white Ilford prints, chasing my Ansel Adams dreams. Over the years my focus shifted from poetry to simply capturing the beauty of the world in general. Since early trips to Thailand, Nepal and Cambodia (lugging an SLR around - see the vintage travel collections) from 1991 and two years around the world from 1994 (with a small Leica) it is still mainly travel photography that keeps my passion going!
Originally from Switzerland, my wife Wendy and I met when travelling in Bolivia and in 2006 we settled in the most beautiful country of all, New Zealand, where the unique landscapes, wildlife and culture are and endless source of interest. We have travelled around Aotearoa so extensively that I published my own New Zealand travel guide.
Since 2015 I have sold thousands of stock photos published on websites, blogs and in print. It was rewarding to see my Takayama photo featured in Lonely Planet’s ‘Best in Asia’ campaign and another gracing the whole façade of a Whangarei business building, also that cute Kiwi chick was a great find.
New Zealanders can buy prints of my photography at a local artist cooperative, THE BACH Whangarei, otherwise I recommend you simply download a photo to print or frame in a way you choose.
Photo art prints in galleries are very expensive for a reason - not least because of up to 50% commission from the shops - I think the best solution is for customers to get their prints done locally, just in the way they like it!
This website is designed as a simple gallery to showcase my favourite pictures - some photos are transferred from other stock websites in an improved version - but also to allow downloads from all over the world, hoping they will end up in many creative projects!
My photo collections include landscapes and architectural cityscapes, abstract and natural genres, lots of flax weaving, in colour and black & white.
